Shawn has been with KBM since 1998 and manages KBM’s geomatics lab. Shawn is responsible for planning all surveys and processing raw data into a wide variety of useful products and information for end-users. Shawn is a Registered Professional Forester and has overseen a wide variety of aerial survey projects for clients in the energy, forestry, and mining sectors. Along with his growing team, Shawn continues to expand capacity and develop new products in KBM’s Geomatics program. As an owner of KBM, Shawn provides leadership and guidance to his team, maintaining customer service and data integrity as top priorities.
Stéphane is a registered professional forester in the province of Ontario with over 20 years of experience in the forestry and natural resources sector. Stéphane began working at KBM as a forestry technician conducting forest inventory surveys, tree improvement activities, remote road and cut block layout, regeneration surveys, free-to-grow surveys, and forest operation prescriptions, including road layout. Today Stéphane manages KBM’s Field Services division with a focus on large scale forest inventory, forest carbon inventory and photo-interpretation projects. Stéphane is also an accredited forestry auditor having completed numerous audits under the FSC FM, SFI FM and SFI FS certification standards.
Ian has been with KBM since 2004 and manages KBM’s Aviation division. He is responsible for all aspects of aerial data collection including survey systems, aircraft, and aircrew. He completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry at Lakehead University with specialization in GIS and remote sensing before completing his commercial pilot license. With over fifteen years of experience conducting aerial surveys, Ian has worked across Canada and internationally completing a wide variety of survey missions. Beyond data capture, Ian also has a firm understanding and appreciation of processing workflows, and end user applications of the data. Ian has twenty years of experience in the management and execution of large scale multi-disciplinary projects. As an owner of the company, Ian is dedicated to safe, efficient, and effective operations to further the success of both KBM and its clients.
Neville has been with KBM's Aerial Services and Geomatics team since 2014. He specializes in data acquisition, GNSS positioning, LiDAR pre-processing, and digital terrain analysis. His expertise is built on a strong academic foundation, holding a Bachelor of Science, an Advanced Diploma in Marine Geomatics, and a Master of Science in Applied Geomatics. At KBM, Neville’s primary responsibilities drive the quality and precision of all flight operations. This includes survey planning, positioning, calibration, and pre-processing for various sensors, including LiDAR, infrared, color (RGB), and oblique imagery. Spanning four countries—Canada, the United States, Colombia, and Chile—Neville's experience includes diverse, multi-year projects. He leverages his technical expertise for key applications in civil engineering, forestry, mining, transportation, and environmental assessment, consistently delivering accurate and reliable results for KBM's clients.
Colin joined KBM in 2013 as a survey pilot and IT Administrator. With an IT background dating back to 2001, Colin manages all aspects of KBM’s IT infrastructure and provides planning and support for security and cloud hosting projects. Colin also holds an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (A), and is an experienced survey pilot, typically deployed for high accuracy LiDAR and orthoimagery collection. Additionally, Colin is responsible for aerial survey system integration and maintenance.
Victoria has been with KBM since 2016 and currently leads the GIS team within the Geomatics Division. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies with a Major in Geography, a Mapping Sciences Certificate, and an Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems. With over 11 years of experience in the GIS field, Victoria has contributed to a wide range of projects across multiple sectors. Her expertise at KBM includes spatial data management, implementation and support of online GIS mapping solutions and tools, and developing custom cartographic products. She is also skilled in Python scripting and conducting rigorous QA/QC processes for deliverables. Victoria’s strong organization, attention to detail and leadership abilities enable her to effectively manage projects and coordinate team resources, ensuring that all GIS deliverables meet client expectations, budgets, and timelines.
Eric works across both KBM’s Field Services and Geomatics Divisions. He holds a master’s degree in environmental studies from Lakehead University. At KBM Eric supports large scale projects within KBM’s Field Services and Geomatics divisions such as forest resource inventories and transmission line projects. With a strong understanding of workflows, logistics, and keen attention to detail Eric is able to support all aspects of the projects he works on from start-to-finish. Eric prioritizes the development of strong relationships and genuine connections with our clients to ensure their needs are met.
Allison is an analyst in the Geomatics Division of KBM. She has an undergraduate in Environment and Natural Resources from the University of New Brunswick and an Advanced Diploma in GIS. At KBM Allison focuses on imagery processing and quality control of client deliverables, while also helping in the field periodically. Allison is familiar with the Esri software suite, Trimble Inpho, ERDAS and python. Additionally, she has extensive field experience having worked with multiple forestry and environmental research groups prior to working at KBM. Allison is dedicated to maintaining KBM’s high standards and efficient data processing to ensure clients needs are met.
Ryan is an integral component of KBM’s Aviation operations and responsible for all aircraft maintenance work completed by KBM or on KBM owned aircraft. Ryan has more 20 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, and 8 years of experience working on survey aircraft specifically (principally Geophysical survey and LiDAR equipped aircraft). Ryan has a firm understanding of the value and importance of maintaining equipment to the best possible standards of safety and reliability. Ryan’s unique skillset and experience is a fundamental component of the Aviation program and helps to ensure the best possible value to KBM’s clients and partners.
Kate has been with KBM since 2018. Kate began in an administrative role with KBM and has grown with the company to help support the team in a variety of ways. Currently, Kate contributes to all aspects of flight operations. Her responsibilities include organizing charter flights, managing the parts department, assisting the flight training unit, and executing a wide range of administrative and accounting duties. Kate’s background in hospitality allows for her to provide effective customer service to all KBM hangar guests.
Jennifer is the Regional Manager for KBM North, and was born and raised in Yellowknife, NT. Jennifer is a registered Professional Engineer and has 10 years of experience managing projects of all sizes across Northwest Territories. These projects often include the engagement of local community members as field support, equipment operators, and essential sources of local knowledge. Jennifer regularly and successfully conducts complex logistical coordination of field teams, helicopters, and fixed wing aircraft in remote arctic and subarctic locations. Jennifer has developed the leadership skills necessary to ensure projects are delivered efficiently on schedule and on budget. Jennifer is a skilled technical writer and has experience working a variety of projects involving barren-ground caribou in the North.
