Considering the recent years of devastating forest fires impacting forest inventories across Canada, KBM has developed wildfire monitoring and mitigation applications to support natural resource and energy clients as they continue to develop and refine response plans and mitigative measures.

KBM’s Wildfire Hazard Map consolidates several public and paid datasets with client specific spatial data to produce a single digestible resource. This single resource allows clients to visualize dynamic wildfire threats in relation to their assets in near real time. This is supplemented with automated monitoring systems to provide users with daily and emergency alerts within user specified parameters. Early detection and alerts allows our clients to quickly implement response plans to mitigate damage.

KBM’s Wildfire Hazard Map continues to meet and exceed client expectations by leveraging new technologies to enhance workflows. This includes predictive modeling which is currently in development.

A complimentary addition to the Wildfire Hazard Map, is KBM’s Wildfire Mitigation Tool. This tool provides a digital replica of the Ontario Industrial Operations Protocol. The tool removes the need for hardcopy paper flowcharts and ambiguous decision-making regarding fire risk. Using Government approved and published datasets the tool provides industrial operators and contractors with a digital record of their daily operation mitigative measures and protocols based on continually updated fire weather and fire index values. Additionally, this tool provides a historical record of required mitigations to streamline contractor compliance to encourage safety and accountability throughout all operational sectors.
